Every app in triathlon will tell you what to eat. None of them will tell you why.

Sync your training, get your numbers, follow the plan. It works right up until the moment it stops working.

Then you're halfway into the bike with a gut that has quietly closed for business, and the app has nothing to say about it.

It doesn't know you slept badly. It doesn't know your legs are still wrecked from Sunday. It doesn't know that race morning is now forecast to be 35°C/95°F.

The Academy teaches you the reasoning underneath your numbers. What your body is doing during a threshold session versus a long aerobic ride, why your carbohydrate target moves, how much sodium you actually lose, what to change when the conditions change on you.

So when something goes sideways, you fix it. You don't write off the day or pour your race entry down the drain.

"I wanted a program where I learned what I needed to know to handle it myself. Because this is the rest of my life. If somebody's telling you what to eat, you're not knowing why. And then you can't make changes on the course if something goes wrong."
Crystal Pomeroy - Age-Group Triathlete, USA

Here's How Our 9 Months Together Works

3 PHASES - 12 WEEKS EACH

1 masterclass unlocks every week so you learn and apply 1 element properly before the next one arrives.

Plus get live support with Taryn in Power Hour each week.

Triathlon Nutrition Academy
Triathlon Nutrition Academy Phase 1

Phase 1: The Foundations (12 weeks)

Your day-to-day training nutrition. What to eat around every type of session, how to recover so you can back up tomorrow, key endurance nutrients and how to build a daily fuelling framework that fits your actual life.

We cover:

  • Recovery nutrition
  • Pre-training nutrition
  • Building your own meal plan
  • Periodisation
  • Iron, Vitamin D and calcium for endurance athletes
  • The Rolling Buffet, fuelling on the bike
  • Eating on Your Feet, fuelling the run

Most athletes feel the difference here first, before they have touched a single race plan.

Triathlon Nutrition Academy Phase 2

Phase 2: Race Nutrition (12 weeks)

Where you build and test every element that goes into a successful race strategy, plus build your own custom Sprint and Olympic distance race plans.

We cover:

  • Carbohydrate loading
  • Hydration
  • The pre-race fuel up
  • Caffeine
  • Managing hot races
  • Multiple transportable carbohydrates, gels and sports drinks
  • Sprint distance race nutrition
  • Olympic distance race nutrition
  • Cramping

This is where the PBs come from, and none of them come from something you tried for the first time on the day.

Triathlon Nutrition Academy Phase 3

Phase 3: Performance Enhancers and 1%ers (12 weeks)

Once your foundations are laid, we get your nutrition fully dialled.

We cover:

  • Gut training
  • Sodium and hydration
  • Getting to race weight without wrecking your performance
  • Fuelling long rides and runs
  • 70.3 race nutrition
  • 140.6 Ironman race nutrition
  • 1%ers and performance boosters

By the end you are not following my dictated plan you don't understand. We have written yours together, for every distance, and you know the strategy behind it and how to adapt it when your training block, your body or the weather changes on you.

This is exactly what I need! Get on the list for the next cohort →

POWER HOUR

Live with Advanced Sports Dietitian, Taryn Richardson

Power Hour is an interactive conversation, not a webinar

Power Hour runs 8 weeks on and 4 weeks off in each phase, so there is room to catch up when life gets busy. I like to call it your "adaptation" time.

24 times across the 9 months, you and your cohort get on a live call with me.

You ask about your food, training, your race, your gut, your numbers. I answer out loud, about your specific situation and help you with a clear plan to practice in training.

You benefit from (almost) weekly access to a sports dietitian with 2 decades of experience, plus benefit from the other athletes in your cohort too.

If you cannot make it live, submit your question beforehand and I answer it anyway. The recording is in your library within 24 hours. Athletes across Australia, the US, the UK and New Zealand all make it work, and plenty of them watch on the turbo trainer.

It costs way less than ongoing one on one consults, it happens far more often, and unlike an app or AI, I can think critically to get to the bottom of the issue, fast.

⚡️I'm in! Get me on the list for our next cohort →

Hi! I'm Taryn

I am an Advanced Sports Dietitian with an IOC Diploma in Sports Nutrition, and I spent 6 years as the dietitian for Triathlon Australia's elite and paratriathlon teams. Since 2008 I have worked with thousands of triathletes, from first-timers to Kona qualifiers. Triathlon nutrition is my speciality.

I also race. So I know the theory, and I know exactly what it is like to fit three sports into a busy week that already has a job and a family in it. I have bonked, cramped, vomited, hit the wall and made every mistake you have made.

Think of me as your coach, but for food.

These days I call myself a semi-retired age-grouper, thanks to my 3 small humans. I raced all over Australia and always placed top 10, but never quite got the gold. That is my pup Peaches with my silver medal.

Sports nutrition is the only thing I do and triathlon is the only sport I do it for. When you describe your week in Power Hour, I have heard it before.

I can't wait to work with you.

What changes when you stop guessing

Different ages, different distances, different reasons for joining, and one thing in common.

Triathlon Nutrition Academy

Jason Currie took 51 minutes off his 70.3.

From 5:27 to 4:36 at Sunshine Coast, in his first race with an actual nutrition plan.

"Nutrition really is the fourth leg of triathlon. I had no idea how much I was leaving on the table until I stopped winging it."

Triathlon Nutrition Academy

Laura Hoffman was having iron infusions every three months and drinking two pots of coffee a day.

A year later, no infusions, one coffee, 20 minutes off her 70.3 and a World Championship qualification.

"I thought this constant fatigue was just part of being a triathlete. Turns out, I was just fuelling wrong."

Triathlon Nutrition Academy

Kelly Estes took up triathlon after retiring and qualified for the 70.3 World Championships at 65.

He went from a 7 hour, to a 5.5 hour 70.3 and saved over $550 USD a month on supplements and sports products he didn't need.

"TNA took the guesswork out of nutrition. I finally know what to do, and I don't waste money anymore."

Triathlon Nutrition Academy

Leigh Yong races short course and started landing podiums.

She also ran her first sub-50 minute 10km.

"You don't have to race long course to be a 'real' triathlete. I never realised how much better I could feel until I actually started eating for performance instead of just trying to eat 'healthy'."

Triathlon Nutrition Academy

Steve Duquette nearly quit after his first 70.3 because of horrific leg cramping.

His training buddies told him it was magnesium. A year later he rode the same 70.3 course on the same bike and went 64 minutes faster.

"Cramping isn't about magnesium. Fix your fuelling and hydration, and it won't be a problem."

What our athletes are saying...

Before you decide, let me save you some time

The Academy is for you if:

✔️ You race any distance. Sprint through to Ironman. The principles are the same, the plans are not, and you build the ones that work for you.

✔️ You're ready to educate yourself so you know how to eat for health and longevity as a triathlete.

✔️ You're a brand newbie or have been doing triathlon for 30 years. No matter your speed or experience level, dialling in the fourth leg will benefit you.

✔️ You are vegan, vegetarian, coeliac, managing diabetes or working around an allergy or intolerance. The Academy teaches you how you eat for triathlon, no matter the style you choose with an Advanced Sports Dietitian who is qualified to provide individual medical nutrition therapy.

✔️ You came to the sport late, or you are in your sixties or seventies. You have more to gain than anyone here, because nutrition has a huge impact on how you recover and fuel.

The Academy is NOT for you if:

❌ You want a quick fix. This is nine months of education, not a weekend of magic.

❌ You want someone to tell you exactly what to eat, every minute of every day, for the rest of your life.

❌ You are not willing to spend 1-2 hours a week upskilling yourself.

The Investment.

A new superbike might buy you 1-5% on race day.

Getting your nutrition right can give you 10 to 40%.

And the maths gets better than that, because most triathletes are already spending the money.
They are just spending it on the wrong things.

"I used to think I needed all these supplements. Turns out, I just needed to learn how to eat properly."

Chris Tubbs, Age-Group triathlete, USA

Who cut $350 a month in supplements after Phase 2

Nine months of education you keep forever.

Give a triathlete a meal plan and they eat for a day. Teach a triathlete to fuel and they eat for the rest of their racing life.

Do this properly once and you never have to do it again. No subscription, no renewal, no app fee.

"My running shoes wear out, my bike will be passé in 5 years, but what you're teaching has lifelong influence."
Stanford Skelton, 65, Minnesota

I'm probably doing myself out of a job. I'm fine with that.

Join The Academy

One Investment. Lasts a Lifetime

Triathlon Nutrition Academy

My Promise to You

I am not going to offer you a no-questions-asked refund. Nine months of education is not something you can try on and send back if it doesn't "fit".

Here is what I will do instead.

Do Phase 1 properly, and if it has not changed how you train, eat or recover, I will refund you in full.

By properly I mean watch all 12 masterclasses, build your meal plan, and either turn up to Power Hour or send me your questions. That is the work. If you have done all of it and you cannot point to one thing that has shifted, email me before the end of week 12 and I will return every dollar.

In 18 cohorts, I have never had an athlete do the work and come away with nothing.

Will The Academy Work For Me?

STILL HERE?

Every athlete who has finished the Academy tells me the same thing, without exception. They wish they had done it sooner.

The ones who get the most out of it are not the fastest or the most experienced. They are the ones who were done trying to figure it out on their own.

Draw on 2 decades of experience from a triathlon nutrition specialist who trains and races too.
